Tooth Removals

Instructions for those who have recently had a tooth removal:

1. Bite on gauze or cotton rolls until the bleeding has stopped; there may be some oozing for the next 24 hours. That's Ok.

2. Should there be some discomfort after the local anesthetic wears off give the appropriate dose of Tylenol, aleve, etc. One does should do the trick in most cases.

3. The night after the extraction: place an old pillow case on the pillow, and wear an old night shirt / pajamas / etc. to bed. There may be some oozing during the night.

4. Eating instructions for the first 24 hours: nothing crumbly or hot; and no straws (suction may dislodge the clot).

5. Should there be what you consider excessive bleeding; dampen a tea bag in warm water, place it over the socket, and bite firmly for 20 to 30 minutes. Repeat as necessary.
