The First Visit
The success of a child's first visit most often depends upon how well things are explained to that child. New experiences can be very frightening. The best approach to a first time visit is Tell - Show - Do. First we tell the child what will
occur. Then he/she is shown what will take place, as in counting the child's fingers with a "tooth counter". Finally, the procedure is done. We talk to the child, not at the child, and in language that the child understands.
