Proper function, and esthetics, are the two main goals of orthodontic therapy. Phase I Functional Appliance Treatment is for young children. It sets the stage for proper growth and development of the jaws. Often this “FAT” helps to minimize the amount and difficulty of future Phase II tooth alignment. That’s when we align the adult teeth to provide that beautiful smile that also functions properly.

Aligners have come a long way in the past 20 years, and most tooth alignment cases can be treated with Invisalign. For those of you who require braces to straighten teeth, you’ll be happy to know that they are now smaller, smoother and comfortable to wear.

Do you have to be numb for your dental treatment? (Silly question!!) My initial postgraduate training was in Dentistry for Children – there were lots and lots of injections for 2, 3, and 4 year olds. It was important to learn to provide “pain free” local anesthesia. You’ll appreciate my touch – my technique is great.
